Kourion Guide from Limassol Cruise Port
Cyprus's finest Greco-Roman city — theatre, mosaics and sea cliffs 20 minutes from your ship.
Distance
Approx. 15–20 km / 20–25 min west of Limassol New Port
Travel time
20–25 minutes by excursion coach or taxi
Time needed
Allow 1.5–2.5 hours on site
Ancient Kourion is the archaeological heart of a Limassol port day. Perched on cliffs above Episkopi Bay, the site holds a Greco-Roman theatre still used for performances, mosaic floors in the House of Eustolios, and views that make the ruins feel alive. From Limassol New Port it is roughly 20–25 minutes west.
Cruise ships dock at Limassol New Port (passenger terminal). Limassol Marina and the medieval old town sit roughly 10–15 minutes away by taxi. Kourion is about 20–25 minutes west along the coast; Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou) typically 40–50 minutes; Troodos Mountains need 1–1.5 hours each way. Confirm all-aboard and keep a 60–90 minute return buffer.
Most shore excursions allow 90–120 minutes on site. Start at the theatre for the classic cliff panorama, then walk to the House of Eustolios mosaics and the early Christian basilica foundations. Summer heat on exposed limestone is serious — hat, water and morning slots matter.
Kourion pairs naturally with Kolossi Castle (10–15 minutes inland) and Aphrodite's Rock further west. On short calls, Kourion alone is the right priority. Do not confuse Kourion with Paphos mosaics — different site, different drive.
